Firstly some sad news Derek Black died on Saturday 12th June a few days before his 63rd Birthday. He was driving and felt unwell, asked his passenger to drive and collapsed with a heart attack. The Paramedics were absolutely brilliant working on him for 1 hour and 40 minutes. As he did not have any money for his burial all his friends gathered at Atilla’s where Jo and Paul held an auction and raffle with donated prizes. He moved to Puente don Manuel with friends from Mallorca and was friendly to everyone, he helped so many people during his time in the Valley, he was a very likeable fellow and had many friends. At the time of writing over 4,234€ has been raised enough to give him a decent funeral, the service was held on Wednesday 23rd June, may he rest in peace.

We had a wonderful Anniversary party with customers travelling from as far away as Granada. Robin George was a Guest who was signing his latest album (always available in the shop), he also donated his latest album as a raffle prize. The Flavourwave oven was won by Janet Morgan and Robin’s album was won by Linda & Paul. We would like to especially thank Janet who made on behalf of “The Warriors” the most superb congratulations card, which is on display behind the till for those who have not seen it.

Now for an apology last month I printed a recipe for Tahini but the title was omitted, we have the recipe by the till if you need this.

Now for a recipe that a customer gave us recently, prepare chunky chips, brush with a curry paste and oil mix, cook in the oven for about 1 hour, they are delicious!

Now for a recipe I have for a different type of Sausages and Mash. Cook the sausages and then mix in some Blue Dragon chilli dip in sauce to the sausages stirring well, then add some water and simmer whilst you cook the potatoes, it is absolutely gorgeous. We have the Chilli sauce on offer at the moment 4€ for 750ml, don’t worry we have loads to go round.

Teresa

During the fund raising event for Derek a friend of Teresa’s told the organizers of the evening that Teresa had to pay for some ‘Medical Procedure’ and it was therefore agreed that some of Derek’s money would pay for this treatment. Unfortunately this was not the case and there was no medical procedure, can we now please draw a line under this. Thank you.

As you probably know Teresa has finished her chemo for now and is now having to go to Malaga everyday to get Radiotherapy. As this is a very costly business should anyone be going to Malaga perhaps they could offer her a lift, I am sure it will be welcomed with open arms.

This is from Teresa direct – “As for my health, I’m told by my Cancer team I’m responding well to treatment, I do however have another year of different IV treatment and are now awaiting a port fitted in my chest, no swimming for me ! Due to collapsed veins. This is done over at Malaga, I’m told not too painful process.

I am also suffering with Lymphodemia, so again unable to work, I am awaiting on my bandage then 3 weeks daily therapy over at Velez Malaga.

I would also like to add that the Hospitals are absolutely fantastic in my opinion, and I am very grateful to be able to have my treatment here.”
